~Why I Go Out With Her... Yet Another Saturday Night~

This is just a moment to appreciate my dancing buddy.

A little back story...when I met my dancing buddy, she was a shy, passive, soft-spoken classmate of mine in Jr. High.  She's really tiny anyway, so it's all the more funny to hear the things that come out of her mouth now that she is no longer that passive, pushover little girl.  Apparently, she's grown a pair over the years and knows how to use it.

We went out last Saturday.  She ended up dancing with this "Chatty Cathy" guy who wouldn't shut up the whole time he was dancing with her.  She seemed okay with it, since most of it was flattery, but then it got annoying when he started reaching out and touching my hair.  I mean, really, you're only here as long as my friend looks like she's having a good time.  Don't push it, right?  So, knowing how irritating that kind of thing is, after about the third time she looks at me, and then stops and turns around and says, "If you're interested in continuing to dance with me, you should stop that, right now.  She doesn't like it and I don't like it and you can be replaced."  Replaced?!  Awesome!  So he behaved and stuck around for quite awhile.  Win, win.  Nice job, dancing buddy.  Fourteen years ago, I never would have guessed. :D

Ah, Europeans...

About a month and a half ago, I was sitting in my car by the beach at sundown, watching the end of the sunset.  My husband sent me a text message, and while I was reading it I heard some people (two guys and a girl) approaching the car next to me, which was the only other car.  They were speaking what sounds like some Eastern European language that I'm not familiar with, so I didn't really bother to look up.  I just sat their texting back a reply.

By the time I finished my text, I looked out the window to see a surprising sight.  There was a white, naked butt right next to my driver side window.  Surprise!  The girl was dressed standing in the open passenger door of their car while the two guys were bent over, drying off and changing.  Normally, we from California change cleverly inside our towels, but our European tourists don't always bother with such hassles.  They were naked right there in the neighborhood.  (Lucky girl.)

So the guys who's butt was facing me was about half way into his dry pants, while the other, who was in the street behind their car, was still drying off with his towel.  I would have checked to see if there was someone in the next car over before bearing it all, but they didn't think that far ahead.  As a reward, I started my car, which was awesome!  The guy next to me jumped pretty high off one leg, and by the time he landed, his pants were all the way on.  The other guy tried to pull the same trick, but he wasn't dry enough yet.  He got stuck half way, with a towel stuffed part way down his pants, hopping on one leg.  It didn't seem like his bare feet were used to that.  Oh my!

Needless to say, it was a treat for both me and the other girl, who was laughing hysterically through the whole thing.  The two guys laughed after the initial shock wore off.  Even in the dim light, I could see how red their white faces were.  I backed out of my parking spot and said, "Looks nice!" with a big thumbs up, just to rub it in.  I could still hear the girl laughing as I drove off.

I suppose I could have knocked on my window and been nice about it.  I thought about that one.  If my window had been down, I might have given him a little slap.  I know, I'm a mean person.  I also could have just sat there in my car until they left, which they probably never would have noticed.  Nah.

~Story Time~

I would just like to share a little episode of Saturday night, because I thought it was mildly creative and definitely fun.  This story should be called, "How to Get Awesome for Free."

I went out with my typical girls' night pal, who is long time single.  When things started to warm up at our usual night club, I noticed there were two pretty attractive guys who were well built and fun dancers.  It seems their goal was to give attention to and get attention from every girl in the place that night.  You know the type.  Anyway, they came up to us, at which point I deflected the one trying to dance with me with my wedding ring and they ran off.  Usually, such self-interested guys would be more or less useless to me, but I'm a team player and my friend is single.  It dawned on me, "Wait, what am I thinking?"  So within about five minutes or so, I managed to casually re-encounter the same guy and explain...

Me:  Sorry, I meant to tell you.  I'm married and behaving, but it's my friend's birthday.  She's 25.
Guy:  (guy lights up) Oh really?  So you want me to...
Me:  Yeah, show her a good time!

...at which point he proceeded to walk right up to her and pick her up with a nice, "Happy birthday!"  For a moment, she panicked, but I said, "(friend's name), go with it!"  Never mind the protests like, "Wait, it's not my birthday..."  (Yes it is. Don't believe her, she's just shy.)  It was funny to hear the guy say, "It is your birthday..."  Ha!  So she had quite a fun experience with this guy really making it a point to show her a good time, and then moving right along.  It was perfect.  She had fun but he wasn't around long enough to intrude upon our girls' night.  He came back later a couple of times just to put a smile on her face.  She danced with his friend, too, but he was a bit more stuck up.

Awesome Tip of the Day:  Never dance with a guy like that (that type of guy) for more than one song in a row.  He will start looking for the next girl during the second song.  He will also manage to inflate his ego to the point of near explosion, thus thinking he's doing you some kind of favor by dancing with you.  Cut him off after the first dance and he will probably come back once he's made his rounds.  Also, if you dance with him at the end of the night, he will think he's taking you home.

I didn't feel bad about that little white lie because I'm quite sure that the guy was looking for any excuse to do that kind of thing anyway.  She had fun, I had fun, he got more attention, win win win.  Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen that big of a happy kitty grin on her face before.  She said she felt like she went to Chip N Dale.  Both awesome and free.

The End.
